What's in a name?

This entry will be short and sweet, but Jenn inspired me to look up all the names of our key characters in the book of Esther.

Esther (es’-thur) = Star. She that is hidden.

Mordecai
(mor’-de-cahee) = Little man; bitter bruising; bitterly reduced. Bitterness of my oppression. A picture of the humanity of Jesus while acting as our kinsman Redeemer (Esther 2:4–7; 10:1–3).

Haman
(ha’-man) = Alone; solitary. Well disposed. A rioter. The rager; their tumult

Vashti
(vash’-ti) = Wherefore waste thou away; wherefore banquet thou. Beautiful; beautiful woman.

Ahasuerus
(a-has-u-e’-rus) = (aka Xerxes) King or mighty man; prince of the people; i.e., lion king.

Anybody have any thoughts or comments on this?

Love it. The fact that the definitions for their names represent each character so well is such a great example of God's "providence."

Very cool...
