Do you ever feel alone? I do. I have amazing friends that I know I can call up at any moment, who would drop whatever they were doing to be by my side. I have been incredibly blessed with a family that I am close with; that loves me and supports me. And yet, sometimes, I still feel alone. Not lonely, really, but alone - do you know the difference? The kind of "aloneness" that makes you want to cry, that hurts deep down, that makes you feel like no one in the world understands you or knows the real you. Sometimes the feeling overwhelms me and I let myself become paralyzed by it, and it's in these moments where I am forced to either cling to what I know is true or allow my feelings to control me. Have you ever been at that place? If so, then know that you have a choice. You can wallow in self-pity and dig yourself futher and further into the pit that you've dug for yourself or you can tell yourself the truth. Feelings lie to you; you can not trust them. The Bible is the only thing that is completely, 100% reliable.
God said that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Do you believe that? He created you and knew you before you were born. He loves you like crazy and gave up His life to prove it. He tells us to come to him when we are tired and that He'll give us rest and that He is near to the brokenhearted. He knows you're hurts, what you're thinking, how you're feeling; He knows the real you, and He has great plans for your life.
Next time you feel alone, tell yourself the truth. Choose to take him at His word and know that He has not forsaken you.
